The Voice of Sincerity
Master Bankay had passed away.
A blind man who knew him remembered him to his friend:
“I judge a person’s character by the sound of his voice.
Normally, when I hear congratulation expressed for another’s happiness or success,
I detect a shade of envy or jealousy.
When I hear condolence expressed for the misfortune of another,
I detect a tint of pleasure.
Master Bankay’s voice was always sincere.
When he expressed happiness for someone. I heard nothing but happiness.
When he expressed sorrow, sorrow was all I heard.”
